About Alpha Chi
The name Alpha Chi comes from the first letters of the Greek words for Truth (aletheia or ἀλήθεια) and Character (χαρακτήρ).
Since 1922 Alpha Chi National College Honor Society has distinguished itself as one of the top multidisciplinary honor societies in the nation. Now with more than 500,000 alumni, hundreds of collegiate chapters across the country, and adding 8,000 new members annually, we recognize exceptional student scholars and unite them around one goal—channeling their creativity and curiosity into scholarship that serves the greater good. By inducting only the top 10% of upper-division students, being in Alpha Chi is a high mark of distinction.
Every honor society celebrates academic achievement, but Alpha Chi is also about encouraging scholars to make their scholarship effective for good and to influence the world for the better. Another important mission is to enhance the collegiate experience for our student members through developing their talents by presenting at our conferences, competing for scholarships and grants, and learning leadership skills through chapter activities and events.
